What does black joy look like to you?

This is my family. I think humor is the most beautiful form of Black joy and I know I get my sense of humor from my uncle Bubby (far left). He’ll have you laughing with his stories and his impressions until there are tears streaming down your face, stomach in knots. There is no feeling more liberating in this heavy world than laughter.

This is my dad - my North Star on all things life. He's lived through the civil rights movement and I've asked him recently if he feels like things have changed. In many ways, they are the same he says. But I asked him today if he feels at all hopeful and he said "I do and I don't know why. This seems to be a perfect storm." I'm so grateful for his wisdom and his ability to be hopeful after all these years. There's nothing more tenacious than the Black spirit.
